Benincà’s engineers, experts in the automation industry, constantly strive for innovation. They explored using FACE gearing, a type of gear with cogs on its face. These are commonly found in high-power applications like aviation. A patent was secured by Benincà which specifically addresses the 90° return of motion in the internal bevel gears and is now incorporated within the new TOM range.
Typically, FACE gears are rare in applications like ours, as they are commonly used in helicopter tilt rotors. This also includes FACE gears in the TOM design offers significant advantages, especially in weight and load distribution on the teeth, surpassing traditional bevel gears.
Key advantages of FACE gears in the TOM operator include reduced sensitivity to misalignment, low transmission errors, and also silent motor operation. The unique teeth geometry ensures better stress distribution, resulting in higher resistance to heavy loads, impacts, and wear and tear, providing a smooth operation.
This patent exemplifies Benincà’s role as #automationspecialists, leading the way with innovative products and cutting-edge mechanics.
The new TOM motor is available in two versions – 230 Vac and 24 Vdc (for intensive use equipped with an encoder). The models are up to 3, 4 and 5 meter wing length.
TOM is ideal for the automation of any type of double-leaf portals thanks to its compact dimensions – only 96 mm wide.
